These 3 sessions will take the form of reflecting on some aspects of dance, each day will focus on one aspect and I will propose exercises to research, experience this aspect from different approaches/ angels with the goal to reach a kind of dance experience through this approach. The first day we will be concerned with multi-directionality of the body, and how we can experience movement through that. The second session will focus on making sense through movement (not that we will aim to make sense) but to research this approach, and also to NOT make sense. The third day will focus on dealing with body parts, our own body parts and the body parts of other people, to go towards a kind of dance while being in contact.

Eslam Elnebishy is a choreographer and dancer, based in Giessen, Germany. Eslam is interested in researching choreography from an improvisational approach, working with non technical physical material, and in un-learning dance techniques / composition through movement and approaching dance through playfulness and score based exercises. Working with a mix of dancers and non-dancers he is always enriching the research, where dancers can learn a lot from non-dancers, and vice versa.

-Currently studying Choreography and performance master’s program(CUP) Giessen

-A graduate of Maat|CCDC contemporary dance school 2019

werkstatt is a multipurpose space dedicated to develop and support the creative community around contemporary dance and performance in Frankfurt. Its aim is to facilitate artistic practice, and bring light to the crossing between art, knowledge and society. Despite offering itself as a rehearsal space for the freelance scene, werkstatt also facilitates workshops, events and becomes a meeting point for different communities (artists, students from various art programs in Frankfurt, Offenbach, Giessen; Joblinge and community of Danzig am Platz).

The project is supported by BUREAU RITTER/TANZPAKT RECONNECT, which is funded by the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the NEUSTART KULTUR initiative as well as Strukturforderung Kulturamt Frankfurt, Joblinge, NeueStart Kultur.
