New Structures for the Independent Dance and Performance Scene
ID_Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main is a project by ID_Frankfurt - Independent Dance and Performance e.V. It provides a platform for joint regional visibility of freelance dance and performance makers. ID_Tanzhaus FRM values communication, cooperation, and cultural political participation. It invites active engagement from the scene to shape sustainable, shared futures. As an alternatively-curated initiative, it actively responds to power structures currently at play in the field, while creating opportunities for dance and performance workers from diverse aesthetics and experiences.
At the core of the ID_Tanzhaus FRM is the creation of opportunities for artists. An extensive residency program, studio sharing initiative (Open Practice Space) as well as professional consulting accompanies the artists from the conceptualization of their project idea to the performance, documenting, and reporting on an administrative, technical and artistic level.
For working and rehearsing, the ID_Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main provides the artists with the studios and technical infrastructure of Die Druckerei, in cooperation with local company, Hennermanns Horde.
A web presence with a community-based, curatorless dance calendar presents the upcoming events of dance and performance artists and ensures greater visibility due to comprehensive public relations work.
In addition, the ID_Tanzhaus FRM is a place for exchange, professional development, and networking between dance and performerance workers and professionals from various disciplines. Through public, interactive and participatory event formats such as Open Studios, Workshops, and the Zukunftslabor, the interested public is invited to get to know the makers, their works and projects.
The founding of the ID_Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main reconsiders work structures and production processes within cultural institutions. The ID_Tanzhaus FRM sees itself explicitly as a host, with the artists and the facilitation of their projects at its center.
