Is there an audio description? In which language?
Workshop will be offered in German. Simultaneous translation offered by request.
The dance collective T.I.A. dance productions (Offenbach/Frankfurt) will present its dance piece ‘Tanzselfies #unfiltered’ at the Stadttheater Gießen in September. In it, two performers share their very personal dance stories, drawing on salsa, ballet, contemporary dance, and house. The piece features integrated audio description to make the dance audible through voice and narration.
In their workshop, the team invites participants to develop their own short dances. The starting point for the movements is the participants’ biographies and everyday experiences. The dance steps are linked to their stories: Where do they come from? How do they feel? In this way, we learn how dance can be complemented by language and explore initial approaches to integrated audio description in dance and theater. Workshop facilitators include Hannah Dewor, Lilian Korner and Amelia Uzategui Bonilla. The workshop is supported as part of the project “T.I.A. for Young Audiences,” funded by “Next Steps,” a program by Bureau Ritter aimed at strengthening the dance community in Hesse. Funded by the Crespo Foundation.
