SHE GOES MILES AND MILES
“She goes miles and miles to join the war” is the second chapter from my master performance “Mulans”. It is a 45-minutes solo dance performance with live-video projection. The initial image for dance and visuals is “feet'', by which I will address the historical issue of binding women feet and bodily emancipation in China.

“She goes miles and miles to join the war” is the second chapter from my master performance “Mulans”. It is a 45-minutes solo dance performance with live-video projection. The initial image for dance and visuals is “feet'', by which I will address the historical issue of binding women feet and bodily emancipation in China. I started with the movement research question : How do bound-feet dance ? There will be a live-camera installation on stage to create a lab situation, which only captures my feet image : I dance with my own feet to relate the bound-feet history and visualize Mulans’ trip of self-emancipation. My working method is documentary based. The texts like oral histories, biography and poems are collected to dig deeper into the unknown side of Mulans’ “her-story” and provide a microscope of Chinese feminism history.
