RECLAIMING DANCE // MIXED ABLED DANCE TRAINING
transFORMAT[i:on] - movement and encounter between construction and decay

Inclusive and participatory open dance trainings that aim at making dance accessible to everyone. In a creative, physical and collective process we deal with each other and our individual characteristics while dancing. The basics are improvisation exercises and modern dance techniques, but above all the dynamics of the group.

Our annual theme in 2024 is transFORMAT[:ion] – movement and encounter between construction and decay. In a certain sense, transformation is the mode of the world: it never stands still, it always moves. Around its own axis, and we with it, brings about changes and upheavals, builds up and tear down. That doesn't always have to mean something good. In a country in which we are increasingly experiencing a strong shift to the right, in which we are already feeling the effects of climate change and in which many people are affected by marginalization and discrimination, these crises can also bring about positive change. But how can these crises be addressed? In a world that seems hopeless, how can one continue to believe in and create positive change? With our new aesthetic research topic, the Reclaiming Dance Performance Collective would like to address these questions. We want to work with ideas, concepts and impulses from literature, science and art, but above all we want to do artistic research: through dancing. Because transformation also means moving. Or dancing!
