To all those who got moving. In Pss, Pss! Chop, Chop! Shivā Amiri explores the traces of prolonged displacement through transgenerational experiences.
Questions of nation-statehood, gender, and queerness are negotiated throughout the work. A biographical search for stories, images, and people — inseparably connected to loss. In order to remember, Amiri visits the grandmother’s house in Kabul, researches the sites of refugee camps, and dances Attan with the spirits of the family. T
he result is a personal archive of sound, dance, poetry, and Sofra — a transcultural life and resistance.
