The Path: This class begins on the floor to generate connection and grounding. Warming up the physical body and opening 'the gates', these are centers of great importance for the flow of Qi, according to Taoist alchemy. Various classic Qigong and martial art movements follow to strengthen the flow of Qi within the spine and extremities, development of Sung, energy that releases excessive tension in the body. We will explore movements and partner exercises that awaken the coordination and generate an awareness of space, effortless dynamics and velocity in motion. We will stimulate an alertness of the senses and challenge our responsiveness. Putting consciousness into your movement inside and outside the body is essential for the practice. In classical Taoist alchemy, we work with the focus of strengthening body and mind at the same time in order to connect with Qi and thus strengthen Jing, the substance and tissues, that generate movement and health in the body.
