"Mutirão", in Portugese, can be translated as 'joint effort'. It refers to a gathering mediated by labor and togetherness. Digging into South American 'dances of labor', merging traditional forms with contemporary dance, this research speculates the fabulation of a social dance based on movements and efforts entangled in stagecraft work. Via shared rhythms and inviting engagement, we reclaim relational technologies through collective labor. Laura Salerno (Brazil, 1990) is an artist currently based in Giessen with a practice in research-driven projects that take the form of performances and installations. On the search of non-dominant modes of making, thinking and perceiving, her productions have an interest in the creation of contexts and affects, where the work is understood as a possibility for rehearsing worlds and activating relationships. She has also been in collaboration with different projects and artists as a light designer since 2016. Currently enrolled in the Choreography and Performance master’s program at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies, JLU, Giessen.
