Biography
Markus Becker or also known in the urban dance community as "Mabe", has been passionately and intensively involved with the dance styles of breaking, popping and hip hop freestyle since 2001. Later in 2007, he added his love for House, which has become his favorite style and strength to this day. His knowledge and skills he learned at the beginning autodidactically as well as in the exchange with like-minded people. Later he consolidated this through regular visits to workshops and seminars of well-known dance pioneers of the urban scene (Mr. Wiggles, Storm, Loose Joint, Henry Link, Sekou Heru and many more). Since 2003 he has been giving dance classes for children, teenagers and adults. Furthermore, he already choreographed some stage shows and participated in quite a few battles and other competitions. In 2018 he was invited to join the HouseCulture-Collective HOUSEROOTS with dancers, DJs and producers from all over Germany, who are in international exchange with the scene.

In the 1980s, house culture in the U.S. developed from the influences of the Afro- and Latin-influenced funk and disco era of the late 1970s. Here the music has its main origin in the clubs of Chicago (the Warehouse, which is also the namesake of the genre). The dance and movement, on the other hand, found its origins mainly in the clubs of New York (The Loft, Paradise Garage, The Shelter...). "Clubheads" and dancers with different backgrounds danced together for nights in exchange and created over the next decades a dance genre with versatile influences from Tapdance, Salsa, Capoeira, Breakdance, Contemporary, Jazz and many more. Characteristically, the movement pattern is described by rhythmic footwork and a flowing, soft, high-impact movement flow in the upper body (often called "jacking"), which can also be extended with transitions into versatile floorwork.
