As we search for the pajé, we hear different versions of the same story. The pajé is approaching the end of their life, yet their knowledge points toward the beginning of another future. We move forwardbackward and we look abovebelow. In the forest, nothing is as it seems. The deeper we listen for the third side of the river, the louder we hear the voices of our own memories and origins: the Andes, Agrafa, and Isandlwana. The boundaries between these places dissolve into the contours of the water. From corporeal cosmologies, a song emerges – one that returns the water to the jungle and the soil to the mountain. The pajé may have passed. But perhaps we have already reached the third side of the river: a place we create together, one that exists only for as long as we remain there with one another.
