A person is seen from behind against a dark background, wearing a wide coat. Projected images and lines cover the coat, creating a layered visual texture. The body’s slightly twisted posture highlights the interplay between movement and projection.

In her solo performance »remembering for tomorrow«, Frankfurt-based performer, dancer and choreographer Petra Lehr explores the development of the independent dance and theatre scene since the late 1970s, a history closely intertwined with her own biography.
The experiences and knowledge of a lifetime as an artist shape the work and appear on stage with a depth and quality that would not have been possible at the age of twenty or thirty. Petra Lehr is part of the first generation of the independent scene, a generation that did not want to fit into the established structures of dance and theatre but aimed to fundamentally transform them. Through storytelling, play and dance, she addresses the evolution of the independent dance scene since the late 1970s, the cultural policy landscape, particularly in Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region, and her own work as a performer, dancer and choreographer. The history of Gallus Theater also plays a role. Petra Lehr presented her first solo there in 1983, and to this day most of her productions have been shown at Gallus Theater.
»remembering for tomorrow« engages with questions such as: How did people work and train in the 1970s? How have methods changed over time through influences such as yoga, Pilates and Feldenkrais? The piece also reflects on continuity, since forms of performance from the late 1970s and 1980s, including mime, physical acting, jazz, modern and urban dance, can still be found in contemporary dance today.
The production includes props and costumes from earlier works, projections of photographs, choreographic notes, contracts and more.
Drawing on fifty years of independent artistic practice as a performer, dancer and choreographer, Petra Lehr also hopes to serve as a role model. Her aim is to encourage women, especially girls and young women, to pursue their own ideas, wishes and visions.
